Press Release - REWARD - Soccer field vandalism

For Immediate Press Release

Reward for information to identify vandals.

October 30, 2023

On or about Thursday October 27th, vandalism occurred at Norman E. Kuhne Recreation Park soccer fields at 3986 N Oceana Drive in Hart Township. The park is located adjacent to the District Health Department #10 Office. The vandalism includes multiple burnouts or doughnuts performed on the playing fields resulting in significant damage to the grassy turf necessitating multiple repairs.

The maintenance of these fields is largely supported by donation funds, pay for play fees, and public support from our local communities. Thousands of dollars are spent each year on seed, fertilizer, weed control, irrigation, and on-going regular maintenance.

This gross act of vandalism ultimately affects our children and grandchildren, who benefit from this facility.  The Hart Area Recreation Club is asking for public input as to whom may have witnessed or can otherwise assist the Oceana County Sheriff Department in pursuit of identifying the vandal or vandals.

Anyone with information can reach out to the sheriff’s office as listed below.

If you have information that you believe may be helpful to detectives in solving a case, we would very much appreciate you reaching out to us. There are multiple ways for you go get in touch with us including:

Hansen Foods has donated some funds to offer a reward of $250 for information leading to identifying the vandal or vandals:

A similar incident occurred at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Weare Township near the same time, and it is believed that the two situations may be related.

Any questions, concerns, or interest in volunteering to help our cause may be directed to: [email protected]
